Move over CoverOregon – here comes HealthCare.gov!

December 31, 2014 will see the end to CoverOregon as Oregon will transition to HealthCare.gov, the federal health insurance website, on January 1, 2015. All insurance plans sold through CoverOregon will end December 31, 2014. Everyone who enrolled in private insurance through CoverOregon will have to re-enroll though the HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment begins November 15th, 2014 for 2015 plans. You must enroll between November 15th and December 15th in order to have insurance in place January 1. Enrollment will continue until February 15th, but if you enroll later you may have a gap in your insurance coverage. In order to receive tax credits and/or subsidies you must enroll through HealthCare.gov. See the post Tax Credits and Subsidies to find out if you qualify. If you enrolled in Oregon Health Plan or Healthy Kids through CoverOregon your coverage will continue and there will be no need to re-enroll. Donna Green and Lisa Burrows are both certified agents with HealthCare.gov and represent all insurance companies who sell plans in Oregon.
