Healthcare The state of Oregon uses the federal marketplace healthcare.gov to help individuals enroll in health insurance. You can think of it as a one-stop shopping mall that makes it easy to find a plan that meets your needs. Enrollment is limited to certain times of the year. Enrollment for 2015 is closed. You can enroll for a 2016 insurance plan from November 1, 2015 until January 31, 2016. At other times during the year you need a “qualifying event” in order to be able to enroll. Some such events are losing group coverage, getting married, or moving to a different state. Healthcare.gov gives comparisons between health insurance plans as well as a calculator to see what financial assistance you are eligible for – from help to pay premiums to covering co-pays.  Read  “Tax Credits and Subsidies “ for more information. If you qualify for tax credits you must enroll in a plan through healthcare.gov. Northwest Financial Insurance agents are affiliated with the federal marketplace. We can walk you through the application process. If you don’t have a computer or internet access in your home you can come into our office to enroll. Your premiums will be the same even if we assist you, and as your agents we will be there to provide support for you in the future.
